Local Political Follow Ups:

• Have been in regular contact with Galway City and County Council regarding housing issues in anticipation of the end of the eviction ban
• Followed up again on behalf of healthcare workers who have still not received the pandemic bonus payment
• Queried the Minister for the Environment on the trees that were cut down in Merlin Woods

Engagements:

Dáil Work:

• Raised the ongoing struggle that businesses in the West are facing with LPG gas with the Minister for Finance
• Highlighted the way that years of government failure on housing and the current cost of living crisis is impacting on renters and putting them in an extremely precarious position especially if they are facing an eviction notice at a time when this Government sees fit to allow them to be evicted into homelessness without any additional supports
• Questioned economic researchers on site value tax and the impact such a tax would have on land prices and land banking and speculation
• Expressed my shock at the lack of change in the EU fiscal rules, including the completely arbitrary rule which limits member states’ deficit to within 3% of their GDP
